Course Description

The Educational Research and Evaluation Study Program (PEP) provides master's and doctoral programs. The master’s program has been established since the 1981/1982 academic year with the support from The Ford Foundation. In preparing the opening of the study program, The Ford Foundation provided assistance from two teaching staff from the USA, namely Dr. Gary L. Theissen from the University of Iowa, and Dr. F.X.R. Fernandez from the University of Michigan for the first three-year period. In the next three-year period, from 1985 to 1987, the lecturer who helped was Dr. Loxley. In the 1984 to 1986 period, the Graduate School of YSU (IKIP) collaborated with the University of Iowa in terms of lecturers exchange.

In order to prepare the teaching staff for this study program, in 1983 and 1984, four lecturers were sent to the United States to study educational research, assessment and evaluation, namely Suyata, Mulyani Nurhadi, Zamroni, and Djemari Mardapi. In 1988, all lecturers assigned to study abroad had finished their studies and were in charge of teaching in the Educational Research and Evaluation Master’s Program. The initial pioneer of the program was Dr. Moh. Amen. He served from 1981 to 1997, then he was replaced by Sumarno, Ph.D., Prof. Djemari Madapai, Ph.D., Prof. Soenarto, Ph.D., Wardan Suyanto, Ed.D., Prof. Dr. Zuhdan Kun Prasetyo, M.Ed., Dr. Moch. Bruri Triyono, M.Pd., and currently, it is Prof. Dr. Marsigit, M.A.

Initially, this study program was a Credit Collector Group (KPK) from IKIP Jakarta which is now called Jakarta State University. However, since 1994, the study program has become one of the independent master’s programs based on the Decree of the Director General of Higher Education Ministry of Education and Culture No. 432 / DIKTI / Kep / 1993 dated June 16, 1993.
