Testimony

1. Martin Iryayo
Being one of the students accepted in Educational Research and Evaluation study program is of the greatest value ever. My ability to conduct an interesting research is rooted on the skills I got from the study program. The study program I am giving credit to today is the backborn of everything I have achieved here in Indonesia. Most importantly, I am able to manage different types of data to find the meaningful outcome, the interpretation of statistics software outputs is my versatile key I was given by the outstanding lecturers based in PEP. Live long PEP!!! (Alumni, Martin Iryayo from Rwanda, Afrika) 2. Oscar Ndayizeye
I would like to give a short testimony and my experience when I was doing my Master's at Yogyakarta State University, especially in Educational Research and Evaluation study program. First of all, I am now realizing after I have left Indonesia that teaching is an art and that the sense of humour that Prof. Badrun mixes with the teaching as an art makes teaching as performance. He is among few lecturers I met in Indonesia with the ability to put expertise, humour, and performance to achieve teaching objectives.

This educator is awesome and experienced in different ways, but I am going to comment on four aspects:
a. His courses were enjoyable: the teaching activities were engaging and there was a room left for students to participate in constructing their own knowledge;
b. His assessment techniques, tasks and examinations were all related to the tasks given to students during the teaching-learning process;
c. His ability to talk to students and to know about what was wrong if someone was absent means he is able to go beyond the student's cognitive level...to make sure someone's affective realm is steady too;
d. His pieces of advice to the students turned him not only in an educator but also in a parent. I remember him telling us how he shares his research projects with others. How he offered chance to students to practice data analysis in his own research projects. I simply decided to be simplistic and get close to my students like my mentor: Prof. Badrun. This study program is very superior in preparing research and evaluation personnel in the field of education, both as lecturers and researchers in various fields related to educational evaluation. The curriculum provided is very supportive for the future career development. In addition, this study program is very excellent because it has outstanding lecturers who are experts in their fields. During my study here, I felt extraordinary changes both in terms of my knowledge and behavior. This study program teaches me a lot about the science of measurement and evaluation as well as research that is my provision in working now. Even with that knowledge, I was able to establish a research institute which I named "RESSI". In terms of behavior, I learned a lot about the meaning of patience, cooperation and respect from the lecturers there. This means that in learning, you have to be patient and respectful to others. In addition, cooperation is also needed to improve the social life. (Alumni of educational research and evaluation doctoral degree / Dr. Ari Setiawan/ Lecturer of UST, Yogyakarta)

4. Dr. Syukrul Hamdi
The implementation of learning in this study program was very effective. The effectiveness can be seen from the lecturers, materials, methods and facilities used during the learning process. This was proven with the facts that the lecturers are in accordance with the expertise that holds a doctorate degree with a functional position of head lecturers and professors so that the materials delivered by lecturers were always actual and adapted to the needs of students and scientific implementation when they later live in the society. Furthermore, the material delivered was very effective because it was supported by the facilities that were very supportive, such as comfortable classrooms, laboratory, projectors that were always standby, stationary, digital libraries, and various reference books, both domestic and foreign references. In addition, the effectiveness of the method can also be seen from the variety of learning methods used during the lecture process. The method turned out to be very influential for us (students) when we began to practice or implement the knowledge acquired at the university when working.

The results of learning in this study program are very beneficial because the curriculum is adapted to the demands of the world of work and educational problems in Indonesia. Based on the results of the research for the thesis and dissertation, it was found that most teachers had difficulties in the assessment especially the one in the curriculum 2013 in which they had to assess three competency domains, namely attitudinal competencies (spiritual and social), knowledge competencies and skills competencies. Therefore, the graduates of this study program are the solutions to the problems and this is one of the benefits of the learning results that I think significant, especially in my hometown, West Nusa Tenggara. The knowledge that I got in college was also very useful, especially related to education research and evaluation that was developed and implemented on the campus where I work. In fact, in the field of research I was appointed to be the team leader of the revised strategic plan for university services. Furthermore, for the evaluation section, I was appointed as an education evaluation expert and shared knowledge with lecturers at Hamzanwadi University in improving the quality of learning evaluation through LPTK revitalization grants.

This study program, in my opinion, has many excellences, some of them are presented below.
